This weekend was filled with excitement, laughter, and new experiences as Beavers, Cubs, and Squirrels came together for a fantastic overnight stay at the beautiful Beaudesert Scout Campsite. Nestled in the heart of Cannock Chase, the site proved to be the perfect backdrop for a weekend of outdoor fun and adventure.
Action-Packed Activities for Beavers and Cubs
From the moment they arrived, the Beavers and Cubs threw themselves into a range of thrilling activities. One of the highlights was crate stacking, where young adventurers tested their balance and teamwork skills by stacking and climbing crates as high as they dared. There were plenty of wobbles and cheers as each group tried to beat their own record.
The campers also had the chance to channel their inner chefs during campfire cooking, learning how to prepare tasty treats over an open flame. From toasted marshmallows to sizzling snacks, everyone enjoyed the chance to cook outdoors—and eat the rewards!
Nature lovers took part in arts and crafts, using natural materials found on site to create beautiful pieces of artwork. Leaves, twigs, stones, and flowers became the tools for creativity, as the young Scouts made everything from woodland creatures to colourful collages.
For those ready to climb to new heights, the monkey trees offered a fun and challenging tree-climbing experience. Harnessed and helmeted, the Beavers and Cubs scrambled up the tall trunks with impressive courage. And for the truly brave, abseiling was on offer—giving them a thrilling ride back down!
Squirrels Join the Fun
The weekend wasn’t just for Beavers and Cubs—our youngest section, the Squirrels, joined the adventure too! While they didn’t stay overnight, they packed in plenty of fun during their daytime visit. The Squirrels enjoyed soft archery, where they learned how to aim and shoot in a safe and friendly environment. Giggles echoed across the field as they also took part in giant games, working together in teams and building their confidence.
Memories Around the Campfire
As the sun set over Beaudesert, everyone gathered around the campfire for an evening of songs, stories, and laughter. It was a perfect chance for Beavers and Cubs to wind down after a busy day, share their favourite moments, and enjoy the true magic of Scouting under the stars.
A Weekend to Remember
The weekend was a wonderful example of what Scouting is all about—fun, friendship, challenge, and adventure. From climbing high to crafting with nature, cooking on fires to sharing giggles with new friends, every young person left with happy memories, new skills, and big smiles.
